Professor Wilson has been collecting old letters for many years. The collection begins in the 14th Century and continues to date. The talk conveys the fascination associated with this hobby and the learning achieved through researching the social context pertaining to the period in which a letter was written. The event initiating the particular letter and the reply are never available and hence all you can get from a single letter is "only half a story".
