We are planning an exhibition in Grange from 7-13 August 2008 in the
Victoria Hall looking at changing channels, changing shorelines and their consequences
for the places and the people of Grange and the area.
Everyone is invited to contribute stories, pictures, time, skills or ideas to Denys
Vaughan and Susannah Bleakley, Morecambe Bay Partnership, 32 Market Place,
Kendal, LA9 4TN Tel. 01539 734888 email: info@morecambebay.org.uk
Changing Channels, Changing shorelines... Changing Grange?
For the past decade the Kent Channel has been on the Arnside side, eroding
Silverdale marsh and creating, on the Grange side, one of the largest salt
marshes in living memory. Since 2007, we have seen the channel moving back
to the Grange side, at least near Holme Island. If erosion continues to remove
the saltmarsh it would clearly have significance for Grange-over-Sands.
