Dales & Lakes Historic Vehicle Day
Vintage and Classic Car and Bike show, Jazz and country music, Lakeland Radio broadcast from the showfield, Birds of Prey display and many other items and stalls of general interest, Autojumble. Not to mention 150 beautiful classic cars and motorcycles. A great day out and not expensive, £4 per adult with under 16's FREE.

Free parking at Windermere Road Car Park ,then short walk to the Railway Station and ride the prom road train , small charge for this,lovely ride along the prom to Clare House Bridge. CPLHS Summary of lecture 18th April 2013 - Lime Kilns

The audience were amazed to hear that Cumbria had around 1500 lime kilns at one time and 1,100 of them still remain. Graham explained that the Greeks started burning limestone to form lime mortar but it was the Romans who first did so in Britain. Lime mortar was used in many buildings and locally at Cartmel Priory.

Radio Cumbria's Harry King will be at the Bandstand in Park Road Gardens on Sunday 26th May broadcasting live for his 3 - 6pm Sunday afternoon music programme. This will coincide with the first concert of the 2013 summer season of "Music in the Park" concerts.

Dr Turnbull gave a fascinating talk on how changes in the road network of Westmoreland had led to changes in the character of the roads themselves, the buildings located along the roads and the services offered to travelers. She illustrated this with maps and photographs and two case studies -the routes from the Lancashire border to Levens and from Levens to Ulverston.
