Inspired by the pioneering Sea to Sea Cycle Route
(or the C2C), the Walney to Wear Cycle Route (or
W2W) runs through wonderful countryside to the
south, between Walney Island on Cumbria’s Irish
Sea coast and Wearmouth in Sunderland on the
North Sea coast.

Most of the route is on tarmac roads and country
lanes, but does have a few short sections that
wouldn’t be out of place on a mountain bike route
